Introduction to the Company
Building Consultants, Ltd., was formed to provide clients with quality engineering services at a reasonable price. As we are a small business, all projects are performed under the direction of BCL's Senior Principal, Mr. Jerome P. O'Connor, with 30 years experience in building projects.
The firm specializes in building-related services, particularly those concerning resolution of problems in existing buildings. We have accumulated expertise in three primary areas of engineering: structural engineering, exterior wall consulting and roof design. We frequently serve our clients who are interested in purchasing a property by visiting the property before the purchase to identify capital projects and deferred maintenance items which may have to be rectified upon purchase of the building.
Mr. O'Connor has written many papers on technical topics and is a frequent speaker at local and national conferences. A complete list of his publications can be furnished if requested. He is a member of ASCE, ACI, CSI and ASTM. He is licensed in 21 states as a professional engineer and in Illinois also as a structural engineer. You may view Mr. O'Connor's resume online.
To complement the experience of BCL, we have affiliated consultants in a variety of fields who work with us on a regular basis. These include architects, materials engineers, metallurgists and environmental scientists. In addition, we regularly work with several contracting firms who can provide such services as swingstage access to the sides of buildings and removal of concrete, asphalt or roofing cores.
We have worked with a number of nation-wide hotel ownership groups, commercial property owners, real estate firms and attorneys, as well as architectural and engineering firms. We have completed projects in 30 states; four Canadian provinces; and the US Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Grand Cayman and Aruba.
